In a chilling act of vigilantism, Vyacheslav Matrosov, 35, a Russian father, took matters into his own hands after discovering that a six year old had been abused by someone he once considered to be a family friend. He confronted Oleg Sviridov, 32, the man responsible who was also captured in disturbing footage with the child.
The video revealed heartbreaking moments where the girl is heard pleading: “Oleg, that’s enough, I can’t take it anymore. I want to go home.”
Matrosov coerced Sviridov, once a trusted friend and babysitter, into digging his own grave before taking his own life under duress at the forest scene.
Although Matrosov was initially charged with murder, it was later concluded that Sviridov inflicted the fatal injuries upon himself.
In 2022, Matrosov served a 12-month stint out of an 18-month prison term and emerged to considerable public sympathy for compelling the molester to dig his own resting place.
After his release, Matrosov shared his relief online with a photo captioned: “Home. Love very much.”, reports The Mirror US.
The Krasnoglinsky Court in Samara sentenced him on charges of “inciting” Sviridov “to suicide” resulting in an 18-month sentence at a strict regime penal colony.
Had Matrosov been found guilty of murder, the ex-rocket engine factory worker might have been looking at a 15-year stretch in the clink. The Samara region’s community has thrown its weight behind Matrosov following his involvement in the slaying of convicted paedophile Sviridov, catapulting the case into the international spotlight.
Residents of Pribrezhnoye have dug deep to cover Matrosov’s legal fees. A petition with a hefty 2,500 names is demanding Matrosov’s freedom, as locals hail him for “saving our children by ridding us of a child sex attacker.”
TV celebrity and former Russian presidential candidate Ksenia Sobchak exclaimed: “All parents are standing up for the pedophile’s killer.”
