Thousands took to the website Downdetector to note that X – formerly Twitter – was experiencing problems on Tuesday morning.
However, the site appeared to be working for many others. X has not commented on any problems.
Downdetector – which allows users to flag problems with other websites – saw a spike with more than 2,000 users reporting problems with X shortly before 3.00pm UK time with thousands reporting an issue.
A map on Downdetector shows high concentrations of issue reports in metropolitan cities, such as London and Manchester.

In the US, Downdetector reported an even larger spike, as more than 6,800 users reporting problems with X just before 10.00pm US time. The issue seems to be affecting the browser version of the website with users unable to upload posts.
The map shows high concentrations of issue reports in the East Coast, such as New York and Boston, to the South, including the likes of Georgia and Tennessee, to the West Coast, such as Los Angeles.
In both countries, more than two-thirds of X users have difficulties getting access on the website, while less than 20 percent of users have trouble getting on to the app, and 7 percent said their server conenction is down.
But the outages in both the US and UK were short-lived as complaints were on the decline thirty minutes later and the system seems to be recovering just after 3.15pm UK time (10:15pm US time).
