PASCAGOULA, Miss. (TCN) — A 39-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly beating his parents to death with a cinder block.
According to the Pascagoula Police Department, on March 5, officers went to a home on Krebs Avenue regarding a fight and saw Darold Payne run and barricade himself inside a home. Outside, police reportedly located two deceased victims, identified by WLOX-TV as Payne’s father, 86-year-old Harold Payne, and his mother, 72-year-old Jittuan Payne.
Law enforcement attempted to get Payne to exit, but they ultimately needed to deploy tear gas inside the residence. Payne eventually surrendered and was taken into custody on two counts of murder without incident.
WLOX reports the Jackson County coroner determined Harold Payne and Jittuan Payne sustained fatal blunt force trauma injuries from a cinder block.
Payne is in custody at the Jackson County Jail without bond.
