Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will appear before the House Homeland Security Committee Tuesday morning, as House GOP members prepare to deliver articles of impeachment against him to the Senate.
The presentation of articles had been delayed, with some Republican senators arguing that they needed more time to prepare for a trial. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has made it clear he intends to dismiss the charges as quickly as he can. There may also be procedural delays, Senate Republicans likely do not have enough votes for a conviction.
Tuesday morning’s House hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. EDT.
