SAN ANTONIO (TCN) — A 21-year-old man who was recently arrested for a road rage shooting is in custody for allegedly offering to purchase a baby for a minimum of $500,000 to harvest the child’s organs.

Bexar County Jail records show Jose Israel Teran was booked last week on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and purchase/sell of human organs.

According to an arrest affidavit cited by KSAT-TV, Teran was reportedly accidentally added to a family group chat on Dec. 30, and the conversation centered on the details of a 9-month-old child’s baptism. One of the family member’s uncles reportedly changed his phone number, which became Teran’s. Teran allegedly responded to the group, “That’s a nice Caucasian baby. How much you want?”

One family member told Teran he got the wrong number, but he reportedly continued responding. He allegedly wrote, “Are you not interested in selling? I’m willing to start the bid at 500k.”

KENS-TV reports the child’s father called Teran, who said he had interest in “purchasing their child and would be willing to pay for their child in cash or bitcoin.”

Teran reportedly told the child’s father he buys babies and uses them to sell their organs.

According to KSAT, Teran made comments about how he knew the address of the baptism and the family’s home because they sent it in the chat. Teran, however, allegedly told police he believed the text thread was spam.

Teran’s previous brush with the law occurred Jan. 6 when he reportedly shot a truck driver in the leg during a road rage incident.
