A major new update in the search for missing British teenager Jay Slater is imminent with a press conference in Tenerife due to begin in minutes. The 19-year-old from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, disappeared while attempteing to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus.
The apprentice bricklayer had been partying at the NRG music festival on the island with two pals before his disappearance and was last heard from on Monday last week.
It would have taken 11 hours to walk from Jay‘s last known location, Rural de Teno Park in the north of the island, to where he was staying.
Specially trained dogs joined the search on Tuesday (June 25), while local police said search efforts were not being scaled back. Jay’s desperately worried mum, Debbie Duncan, has said she is at her wits’ end.
The family has also had to contend with vile rumours and allegations spread by online trolls, including false claims Jay’s body has been found.
