It was celebrations all around after last night’s nail biting Euro 2024 game that could have ended in England being booted from the tournament.

But thanks to a last minute goal from Jude Bellingham the national team will wobble onwards after a performance that was largely panned before that point.

One man who was particularly unimpressed with his team’s efforts and said so as he and a pal stormed out of the game early, missing out on Bellingham’s much needed rescue.

Sports journalist for Sky News – Tyrone Francis – shared the clip on social media platform X. He approached the two men as they left the game against Slovakia.

He asked: “Guys what are you making of the performance?” A moody man smoking a vape is quick to answer.

“Sh**e,” he says, before repeating his savage verdict for emphasis. The presenter then asks the pair: “What needs to happen next?”

“Well Southgate’s gone hasn’t he. He’s gone. On his holiday. Players pick up next two years – that’s all we can do.”

The pair then say they’re leaving early with his friend adding “only ‘cos we don’t want to get caught on the tram”.

The clip filmed outside the Arena AufSchalke ground in Germany has now been watched almost seven million times and thousands of people have commented.

One said: “Yet more proof that should never ever leave a game early.”

Another agreed. They said: “Cant [sic] be the only one who finds it strange leaving early, knowing the team could come back, after travelling to a whole different country to watch a game of football? Just seems odd….”

“They probably felt so cool and edgy leaving early lmao,” quipped another.

Pundits like Gary Neville and Roy Keane also didn’t hold back in their scathing assessments in the studio prior to the win.

England were just seconds away from an embarrassing exit in Gelsenkirchen before Bellingham’s moment of brilliance.

England captain Harry Kane – a minute into the extra 30 minutes – then headed in another goal, making the score 2 – 1 to England.

Now England faces a quarter-final match against Switzerland in the tournament which runs until July 14.
