ASHEBORO, N.C. (TCN) — A 25-year-old man known for for the “Thank You Jesus” movement has been charged on suspicion of a child sex crime.
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a Cybertip to authorities, and the Invictus Task Force began an investigation in January 2025. As a result, investigators identified Lucas Hunt as a suspect.
Per WRAL-TV, police allege Hunt received video footage of two minor girls engaging in a sex act. On Feb. 25, he was arrested on one count of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and booked into the Randolph County Detention Center on $75,000 bond.
Hunt is reportedly the man behind the nationwide “Thank You Jesus” yard signs and founded the movement when he was a young teenager. According to the organization’s website, he “prayed for help to display Easter signs in his hometown” and “prayed that these efforts would have a giant impact on the Kingdom.” The movement has reportedly sold over 250,000 signs, as well as car magnets, garden flags, and bracelets.
