A Russian missile has killed civilians after exploding in a packed Ukrainian retail park.
Social media footage has captured a massive black plume of smoke emanating from a park in Kharkhiv following an explosion reportedly caused by two anti-aircraft missiles.
At least two people have died following the attack, with flames clearly visible inside one building.
The attack was confirmed both by Ukrainian national outlet Pravda, and Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, who reported the explosions at 4.02pm.
He later confirmed the city had been struck by the bombs, and pictures were soon posted online showing the destruction.
Pravda initially confirmed the attack and following two deaths in a post on X, formerly Twitter, earlier this afternoon.
The outlet posted: “Occupiers hit a construction hypermarket in Kharkiv.
“As of now, it is known about two dead and at least four wounded.”
In his own post on Telegram, Mr Terekhov confirmed further casualties, saying a “large number” of people were missing following the blast, and “many” wounded.
He said: “We have a large number of people missing. Many wounded.
“Judging by everything, the attack was aimed at the shopping centre, where there were many people – this is pure terrorism. “
