SHOW LOW, Ariz. (TCN) — A 27-year-old father faces murder charges for reportedly shooting and killing his young daughter with a high-powered rifle.
The Navajo County Attorney’s Office announced this week that a grand jury returned an indictment charging Adam Montoya with second-degree murder — domestic violence, and child abuse — domestic violence in connection with the death of his 13-month-old daughter.
Montoya allegedly fatally shot the little girl Feb. 3 using an AR-15 rifle right in front of the child’s mother. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. He is in custody at the Navajo County Jail with bond set at $1 million.
Montoya’s next court date is scheduled for March 6.
