Ukrainian special forces unleashed a massive amount of firepower to push back against Vladimir Putin‘s forces.
Footage from the clash caught Ukrainian soldiers targeting the enemy with sniper rifles as well as rocket launchers and assault rifles to stop their attempts to advance.
The chilling video showed Ukrainian troops working their way through partially destroyed buildings as they exchanged fire with Russian soldiers.
The footage was shared by the 8th Special Purpose Regiment on August 1 alongside a statement: “Toretsk direction. The Special Operations Forces (SSO) are at work.
“Groups from the 8th Separate Regiment have halted a Russian breakthrough to one of the settlements.
Moscow had launched a new offensive in the northeastern region of Kharkiv in May in a bid to exploit delays in the delivery of weapons from Kyiv’s allies in the West.
But Mr Zelensky claimed the Russian Army now appeared to have given up its objectives in the region in favour of shifting their focus back to Donetsk.
Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed in recent days that it had taken control of the villages, but the Ukrainian General Staff made no official comment.
The villages lie about 20 miles northwest of Avdiivka, a Donetsk city that the Russian army seized in February after a long battle.
That victory was the Kremlin’s last major triumph in the war that is now in its third year.
