Russia has suffered yet another blow to its naval supremacy after Ukraine claimed to have struck its Black Sea Fleet again.

Kyiv’s defence forces allegedly destroyed the minesweeper Kovrovets during an overnight attack on Sunday but provided no additional information.

And on Monday, open-source intelligence accounts reported Moscow could have lost the corvette Tsiklon around Crimea as well.

Writing on social media, Ukraine‘s Defence Ministry said: “Another bad day for the Russian Black Sea Fleet.”

Moscow has been using the Crimean peninsula, which it unilaterally annexed in 2014, as the main base for its esteemed naval fleet.

The Russian Defense Ministry last week said air defences downed 51 Ukrainian drones over Crimea, 44 over the Krasnodar region of Russia, and six over the Belgorod region.

Russian warplanes and patrol boats also destroyed six sea drones in the Black Sea, it said.

At least three fighter jets were destroyed in an earlier attack in Crimea a few days ago, according to satellite imagery of the airbase provided by Maxar Technologies.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the governor of Sevastopol, which is the main base for Russia‘s Black Sea Fleet, said the drone attack damaged the city’s power plant.
