SEATTLE (TCD) — A 35-year-old man faces murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing his 9-month-old son while he was high on drugs.
On Wednesday, May 8, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Seattle Police Department officers were called to a home in the city’s Magnolia neighborhood and spoke with a woman who said her infant had been shot. Seattle Fire Department medics arrived at the scene and pronounced the boy deceased.
Police detained two people and brought them in for questioning regarding the child’s death.
According to KCPQ-TV, the woman who called police said she heard gunshots in her home and confronted the suspect, her husband Dion Montgomery, about it. He allegedly told her it was a blank round. Montgomery left the house, then his wife discovered her infant deceased.
Montgomery allegedly shot at two other people walking down the street, but he missed them and hit parked cars instead. KCPQ reports the wife told police she and Montgomery smoked marijuana that day, but she allegedly did not know that he admitted to using PCP, too. He allegedly claimed “demons” led him to shoot his son.
The woman reportedly said she tries to avoid Montgomery when he gets a “weird look in his eyes,” and he tried to kill her one time.
King County Jail records show Montgomery was booked on charges of homicide, assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.
